Exiled former Local Government minister Savior Kasukuwere has responded to remarks by Zanu PF Spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa in which he urged the former members who were part of the G40 faction to admit their errors and rejoin the ruling party.
Kasukuwere and his G40 allies had a sour relationship with a rival Lacoste faction led by the current President Emmerson Mnangagwa before they were haunted out of the country.
Addressing the media on Thursday, Mutsvangwa urged former party members to eat humble pie and retrace their roots back into the ruling party.
Posting on Twitter Friday afternoon, Kasukuwere said he will not apologize to those who wanted to kill him, in reference to the November 2017 military coup where him, Professor Jonathan Moyo, Patrick Zhuwawo and Walter Mzembi were haunted out of the country.
“If you want to talk to me you know where to find me. You want me to apologise for you missing to kill me and my family ? Graveyards can’t offer an apology. It’s time we make decisions that liberate all the people. It’s not personal. Many cadres were fired for loyalty to the party and President Mugabe. And I will not betray the many who dream of a better country, where fairness, justice and peace reins. Harassment of opponents can’t be the norm VaMutsvangwa. It will be a long journey Cde,” posted Kasukuwere.
Kasukuwere made a brief return to the country in 2018 and was arrested on charges of criminal abuse of office which he allegedly committed during his tenure as a Cabinet Minister.
He has expressed his willingness to contest President Emmerson Mnangagwa in next year’s harmonised elections and is being touted at the third way.
