Masakadza’s side KKC loss in DPL

The second round of the 2016 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) did not bring with it a change of fortune for Hamilton Masakadza, who is one of two Zimbabwe players plying their trade in Bangladesh’s top 50-over tournament.

In an statement realised yesterday, by Zimbabwe Cricket, Kalabagan Krira Chakra (KKC) for whom Zimbabwe cricket captain and top-order batsman Masakadza plays lost by four runs to Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club (Prime DSC), at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Tuesday.

With KKC chasing 288, Masakadza had put up six runs from eight balls when he was run out, before his team completed its allotted 50 overs with 283 runs for nine wickets.

Major contributors to the total were Mehrab Hossain Junior with an almost run-a-ball 86 before he was also run out and Mohammad Jashimuddin with 45 runs off 68 balls.

Like Masakadza, team skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, who is also the Bangladesh One-Day International captain, also struggled, and was also run out. He made 15 runs.

The other Zimbabwe player in the DPL, all-rounder Sean Williams, could not contend with the subcontinent heat and made eight runs from 10 balls, one of them a four, in Brothers Union first round match on Sunday, which they lost to Mohammedan Sporting Club by 78 runs.

Brothers Union have their second match of the 2016 DPL on today, when they host Kalabagan Cricket Academy, at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, on the outskirts of the Bangladesh capital Dhaka.

They will play their third match on Saturday, against Abahani Limited, while Masakadza KKC have theirs against Prime DSC, also on the same day.
