Giant beverages maker, Delta Corporation’s latest product offering, the banana-flavored Chibuku Super has drawn mixed reactions from local imbibers who have been long time admirers of the traditional sorghum beer.
Speaking during the product launch, Delta Beverages general manager-sorghum beer business, Marshall Pemhiwa said despite tempering with the original flavor by putting a banana taste to it, the opaque beer variant still maintains its traditional flair.
“It is our firm conviction that we have developed a strong offering that is abreast with the latest trends. This Chibuku Super banana flavoured variant is brewed with the same traditional taste profile as its sister brand, offering a unique and carbonated taste experience, with a well-balanced flavour,” said Pemhiwa.
But the development has been met by mixed reactions with a section of local drinkers believing that the latest product will suffer the same fate as its predecessor, the chocolate flavor which failed to penetrate the market. However, some are of the view that its unusual taste for a traditional beer has eliminated the essence of traditional sorghum drink. However, there is a sizable admiration towards the banana innovation among imbibers who are looking forward to its popularity.
