Members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are set to receive their 2015 bonuses today.
Finance Minister Chinamasa confirmed this development saying ZRP 2015 bonuses will be paid today.
“2015 Bonus for members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police are being made tomorrow (today) 1 April 2016,”said Chimasa in a statement .
The evidently penniless government is paying the 2015 Bonus payments on a staggered basis with the first installment, to Zimbabwe National Army having been made at the end of February.
Chinamasa has once again set new dates for all other civil servant after failing to honor the first bonus payment schedule.
The First schedule which was released after the National Joint Negotiating Council meeting on February 10 had set the following dates.
“Zimbabwe National Army and Air Force pay day will be February 15, 2016. Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe Prison Services pay day (February 18, 2016), Health sector (February 22, 2016), Education (February 24, 2016), rest of civil service (February 29, 2016), pensioners (March 7, 2016) and grant-aided institutions (March 9, 2016),” part of the circular read.
Chinamasa added that the change in dates was compelled by the need to mobilise funds to settle outstanding bonuses.
“To allow for mobilization of additional resources, 2015 Bonus payments to members of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services and staff under the Health sector will be made on Thursday 7 April 2016,”
“The 2015 Bonus payments dates for the Education sector and the rest of the civil service remain as previously communicated that is 30 April 2016 and 31 May 2016 respectively,” said Chimasa.
Meanwhile government health workers failed to access their 2015 bonuses which were due yesterday, with the Health Services Board (HSB) blaming Treasury for the delay.
