Chimene defies court ruling …

…labels Mutsvangwa a power hungry politician

Embattled war veterans minister Christopher Mutsvangwa has been labeled as a scheming and power hungry politician who will stop at nothing to push succesionist ambitions.

This was said by Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Mandi Chimene at a press conference where she expressed her disregard of a court ruling barring her from masquerading as the the interim Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association.

The ruling made by High Court Justice Happias Zhou also interdicted Chimene from issuing Press statements on behalf of ZNLWVA and its leadership. She was given 10 days to respond.

This followed an announcement by Chimene on February 12 that Mutsvangwa and two other executive members had been booted out following a vote of no confidence passed against them.

Chimene however remains defiant and said no courts could hold sway over her convictions to fight for the welfare of liberation fighters, in a wide ranging expose of the Mutsvangwa and his wife Monica’s scheming to use the war veterans for their personal gains.

She said approaching the courts to seek legitimacy when the war veterans had clear structures of dealing with internal issues was a clear sign of desperation.

“No court can bar me from war veterans’ issues because I am a real veteran not a puported one and we did not seek any court’s permission to take up arms against.

“If the Smith regime failed to stop me to go to war so who does Mutsvangwa think he is to bar me from representing issues of war veterans?

“Mutsvangwa is just desperate to approach the courts to deal with internal issues and I will not waste my money to hire lawyers for such an issue,” she said.

Cde Chimene made various accusations against the person of Mutsvangwa demanding that he declares his ambitions from the nefarious activities including misrepresenting facts to war veterans as well as clandestine meeting with whites.

She said Mutsvangwa misled war veterans into believing that the President would address them leading to chaotic scenes at City Sports Centres where riot police smashed the for liberation fighters for holding an unsanctioned meeting.

“Mutsvangwa should just declare his ambitions just like the Presidents said, he is busy meeting with the whites that used to sponsor Tsvangirai and he asked for sponsorship from them, for what purpose one wonders?

“It is all because he wanted to use people the same way he lied to war veterans that the President wanted to address them in Harare when he knew that Law and Order would descend on them which is exactly why they were not there when the police came,” she said.

Chimene also scoffed on allegations of witchcraft leveled against her by people she said were working in cahoots with a faction fronting succession ambitions, retorting that those accusing her were the evil ones.

She was however quick to point out that the President acknowledged him (Mutsvangwa) as the minister for War Veterans because no formal communication has been made with regards to the moves by members to boot Mutsvangwa out.

“Of course the President acknowledged him as such (Minister of War Veterans) simply because we took a decision as the war veterans but we have not informed the president of this development and this alone goes to show that accusations against the first family as lies.

“They even go to claim that I am an occult, they can even call me a witch because that’s what they always say behind my back but I know they are evil,” she said.

Asked to comment on the issue Mutsvangwa refused only saying that this matter was before the courts of law.

“The matter is now before the courts of law and I cannot comment. Anything that she said is now in contempt of court because the ruling has already been made,” he said.
