Harare – The organisers of the Zimbabwe Music Awards will this Wednesday reveal the nominees for the 2015 calendar ahead of a promised glitzy awards ceremony which shall be held at the beginning of next year.
Zima Chairman Mr Joseph Nyadzayo, revealed that the finalists were arrived at after a marathon adjudication episode by a select stellar guild of music adjudicators who came up with a list of nominees that will appeal to the masses as being the cream of the crop in the year under review.
“There has obviously been anxiety with regards to who will make it onto the esteemed list of nominees but I am proud to assure that after hard work, energy and tireless dedication from the team of adjudicators, we have come up with a list that shall reflect the apex musicians and products for the year and period under review,” he said.
Mr Nyadzayo revealed that owing to a bigger celebratory event which the organisers and their stakeholders were planning, the roadmap to the finals would be event-packed and would take the nominees across the nation in a series of planned Zima 2015 awards including traditional venues Harare and Bulawayo.
“We feel the need to bring the nominees to the communities to interact with the fans ahead of the event in order to bridge the gap between the fans and their idols which is the spirit of Zima that we have always embraced. If all goes smoothly we would even want to go to other towns that we have previously not visited to take Zima to the people,” said Nyadzayo.
Zima had kept the arts world guessing with regards the announcement of the nominees and the Wednesday announcement should give relief to speculators while setting the tone for a national debate spurred by the nominees as is traditionally the case in the media and on social networks.
At the event, Zima is also set to announce the social media platforms they will be using to interact with fans and disseminate information to the nation ahead of the event come January.
The date and venue of the ultimate event will be announced in due course.
“We hope to have an announcement that will get the nation talking and also satisfy the high standard of effort shown by artistes this year in the sterling pieces of work that they released throughout the period in review,” assured Nyadzayo.
The full list of nominees shall be embargoed until midday of announcement day for mass dissemination to the eager public with the Fourth Estate taking centre-stage as the conduits between Zima and an enthusiastic public.
