Zimbabwe’s United Kingdom-based footballers Macauley Miles Bonne and Adam Thomas Chicksen finally secured Zimbabwean passports which will enable them to play for the Warriors ahead of the Zebras tie.
The two players are part of Zimbabwe’s Europe based group of players affectionately known as “The British Brigade”, with other players in the same group yet to secure their passports.
Bonne, who represented Zimbabwe at a full international friendly and the Under-23 level, will be the happiest after being frustrated on numerous occasions each time he was called up for national team assignments.
Currently with Charlton Athletic, the 24 year old has been shortlisted for the back to back AFCON Qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia respectively.
Subsequently, Zifa officials have also confirmed that Bolton Wanderers defender Adam Chicksen got his passport.
The 28 year old is also on Joey Antipas’s shortlisted players to do duty on the 15 November 2019 at the National Sports Stadium against Botswana.
However, Warriors fans have challenged Zifa and the responsible ministry, Ministry of Youths, Sports Arts and Recreation to make sure all the players based in Europe, who have shown interest to play for the Warriors, get required documents for them to be part of the team’s set up.
