President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged church leaders to pray for former leader, Mr Robert Mugabe who is currently admitted at a Singaporean hospital since April.
In a press release yesterday, Mnangagwa said Mugabe was responding well to treatment and could be discharged soon.
“Last week on 30th July, I sent on my own behalf a high powered team of officials led by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr M.J.M Sibanda, to Singapore to check on the former President, and to get an update on his progress from the medical team attending to him, including and any additional requirements towards his full care and speedy recovery,” said Mnangagwa.
“From the report the team gave me at the weekend, I am greatly pleased to inform the nation that the former President continues to make steady progress towards eventual recovery and that his condition is remarkably stable for his age. He is responding very well to all treatment. The team further advised that because of the good progress he is making, Cde Mugabe could be released fairly soon,” added Mnangagwa.
He called on church leaders to lead the nation in prayer for Mugabe’s full recovery and good health.
Mugabe has been in and out of hospital since his unceremonious departure from power in November 2017. His visibly frail pictures dressed in Adidas apparel recently made rounds on social media and this could have prompted Mnangagwa to check on him.
