Breaking: Sunday Chidzambwa Resigns

Zimbabwe senior men’s football team coach, Sunday Chidzambwa has resigned from his role with immediate effect ending weeks of speculation about his future.

Chidzambwa led the Warriors to arguably their worst  AFCON finals after losing two and drawing one game in Egypt.

After the finals, fans called for Mhofu to be relieved of his duties as some fans said he had become a dinosaur to the game due to his old age tactics.

During his resignation, Mhofu had was already working with the CHAN squad which is expected to do duty against Mauritania.

In a letter addressed to ZIFA President Felton Kamambo, Mhofu said “This letter serves to notify you of my decision to resign from the position of coach of the Zimbabwe men’s national football team with immediate effect. My last day at work will be the 24th of July 2019. I wish to convey my profound gratitude to the association for the time that I have served as the national team coach.”

Chidzambwa has taken charge of the Warriors on several occasions and he took the team to its first AFCON final in Tunisia in 2004.

ZIFA is yet to name a replacement.
