The Super Cool Stuff’s spot-the-ball promotion which will see winners walking away with a brand new Range Rover Sport car and US$20 000 is fast gathering momentum ahead of its launch on the 26 July and ending on the 2nd of August, 263Chat Business can reveal.
Still in its pre-launch phase, the competition is already in full swing with tickets selling at RTGS$70, an equivalent of US$ 9.25 for discounted tickets.
However, during the pre-launch, tickets have been discounted to US$7 equivalent, targeting 150 000 weekly sales to trigger the Range Rover prize.
“This isn’t a totally new phenomenon; this competition is very popular in Europe, so we have decided that we would like to come up with an African proposition. So we are targeting the African market, we are not just targeting Zimbabwe, we are targeting Africans that live abroad and those that are also on the continent,” Super Cool Stuff, curator Nigel Daura told 263Chat Business.
The Spot the ball competition involves online registration fee by applicants of US$ 9.25 for those from the 13 African countries where the competition is running, translating into RTGS$70 through mobile payment platforms locally.
The next step is receiving a unique picture of football players in action with the match ball missing, and then one has to analyze the picture and spot the possible position of the missing ball.
At the end of the week, a quorum of five adjudicators who are all ex-premier league footballers will analyze the picture and collectively agree on one winning position for the week and the winner will get a brand new Range Rover Sport and US$20 000 in cash, duties and taxes paid.
Currently, the Range Rover Sport is valued at around US$200 000.
“We have a team of expert analysts and adjudicators who will analyze. These are ex-Premier league players, so we have Benjani Mwaruwari as the lead adjudicator, Nwankwo Kanu, El Hadji Diouf , Emmanuel Eboue, Steven Pienaar, Lucas Radebe and Christopher Samba,” Daura added.
The competition is covering 13 regional countries which include Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
It is expected to run continuously, with the Range Rover Sport and US$ 20 000 prize given away every week.
