We Have 200 Corruption Cases To Deal With: ZACC

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo Monday morning said the commission has more 200 corruption cases that need to be investigated with some involving high public figures.

Matanda-Moyo said the anti-graft body will have a busy schedule following the swearing in of eight commissioners, by President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House today.

“We are now properly constituted so new decisions can be made and we can now start our functions in terms of the constitution and there is nothing which can stop the work of ZACC.

“We have too many cases before us, 200 cases and I will need 10 days to itemize the cases that we are working on,” said Matanda-Moyo.

“For now we are still doing investigations, we have got the AG’s Audit report, the NSSA audit report, we have the Hwange issues, we have Command Agriculture and so many other cases we are handling at the moment,” she added.

Asked to comment on the newly sworn-in Commissioners, Matanda-Moyo was upbeat about her team.

“I am quite happy with the CVs of the commissioners. We have auditor generals, we have lawyers, we have accountants, and we have police, so we have a very good team and I am confident that ZACC is going to perform,” she said.
