ZRP Harare coaches Arnold Ngarakana and Prisca Mhuru were the happiest in the Harare Volleyball Association Premier League as they had a highly productive outing during weekend games at Support Unit ‘A’ Mess Courts.
Citizens Tatenda Masawi and Takudzwa ‘Kerry’ Chikurupati helped their side to consolidate their lead at the top of the log table with a dominant 3-0 win over Army side Stallions. The pair amassed a total of 20 points between them to help the Citizens to an easy three points where their side dominated with good serves and blocking.
The weekend belonged to Police side ZRP Harare, who took nine points out of nine to leap from 11th position to 6th on the log table. Coach Ngarakana led his charges to commanding wins over CBZ Jewels (3-0), DZ EVANGELISTS (3-0) and 5th placed Correctional Spikers (3-1).
NABA needed to fight from 2 sets down to edge Harare Poly in a 5 set thriller.
PPU won their first three points of the season as they upstaged DZ Evangelists in three straight sets.
In the women’s category, ‘Girlz dzeTonaz’ went four points clear of the HVA Premier League courtesy of a 3-0 win over Eagles.
Coach Mhuru’s charges came out all guns blazing as they dismissed Correctional Spikers 3-0 to put pressure on the league front runners. The Correctional Services team were no match for Wing Spiker Rumbidzai Dzuda’s powerful hitting.
Manyame Airforce Falcons also powered through youthful side Eagles and walked over Police Protection Unit who were in no show.
DZ Evangelists collected their first three points of the season as PPU again failed to turn up for their match.
