The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission has distanced itself from claims by its chairperson Justice Sello Nare that the Chihambakwe and Dumbutshena commission reports on Gukurahundi atrocities perpetrated by the fifth brigade in Matebeleland and parts of the Midlands was nowhere to be found.
Posting on Twitter, NPRC said they have never discussed about the two reports adding that its chairperson could have been misquoted or was speaking in his own personal capacity.
“MATTER OF FACT:
The issue of the Chihambakwe and Dumbutshena Reports was never discussed by the full Commission. It could be that Retired Justice Nare was either misquoted or was speaking in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the NPRC institution if indeed he said it.”
