Opposition MDC party leader, Nelson Chamisa has refuted claims by the controversial Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi that they confided in each other that anti-government protests will not happen again.

The duo met in Madziwa at the burial of the national hero and legendary musician Dr Oliver Mtukudzi yesterday.

After their meeting Mutodi posted a ‘selfie’ on his Twitter account captioned with the following message;

“Today, at the funeral of Dr Tuku, MDC leader Nelson Chamisa told me his party will nolonger support any more demos against goverment. Our people know not peaceful protests, instead they burn property and loot shops. Demos don’t pay. So we agreed on quiet diplomacy, peaceful engagement. Icho!”

Chamisa, however denied such a conversation took place, charging that the minister must learn to tell the truth.

“Musadaro minister! Remind him though that his ministry is Ministry of information not Ministry disinformation or misinformation.

“I’m praying for Hon Deputy Minister tonight. We need honesty and truth-telling in public offices.Telling untruths has become an industry in corridors of public duty. Lies have destroyed the leadership fabric in our BELOVED country!,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chamisa, whose entrance at Mtukudzi’s home was met with drama, with state security agents reportedly blocking him, said he was overwhelmed by the support shown to him by people on way out.

Chamisa was followed by a mob singing and calling him ‘President’ and it took stamina from his security aides to block and control the excited crowds.

“I’m really humbled by the overwhelming and incredible support from every corner of our beautiful country,” Chamisa wrote.
