Controversial rapper, Stunner real name Desmond Chideme has become the latest musician to delve into the once stormy world of politics after releasing visuals of his track “Maindiitisa” which tackles the “war credential” narrative, often propagated by former liberation war fighters to deprive youths from leadership positions.
On the song, Stunner took a dig at war veterans and in one of the lines he says, “Mari yese iri kutorwa neteam rakarwa hondo, ndosvika pavari here ndovatema ne bodmas” loosely translated to mean that academic theories learnt at school are not prioritized ahead of war credentials.
War Veterans and the now Deputy President Constantino Chiwenga have previously sworn that they will not salute a leader without liberation war credentials.
Recently war veterans leader, Victor Matemadanda caused a stir when he put forward a proposal that parliament should amend the constitution to raise the presidential age limit from the current 40 to 52, a move widely seen as an attempt to thwart Movement for Democratic Change leader, Nelson Chamisa from contesting the 2023 elections.
