Harare Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa has ordered a psychiatric examination for a Harare man who was arrested at State House after masquerading as a Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) officer.

Marshal Chirombe whose trial will commence on 19 December was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare Magistrates court.

Appearing on behalf of the state, Shepherd Makonde alleged that, on December 4, Chirombe drove along Chancellor Avenue and stopped at the Northern boom gate of the State House.

He allegedly identified himself to a Constable Njerere as a member of the Central intelligence organization and that he was in a hurry to deliver some documents to President Mnangagwa.

Constable Njerere knowing that President Mnangagwa was at Zimbabwe House not at State house removed the spikes and Chirombe drove to the State House.

Upon arrival at the State House’s western gate, Chirombe hooted for attention and was attended to by Constable Soka to whom he introduced himself as Brigadier General Marshall who had been sent by President Mnangagwa to collect some documents on his behalf.

Chirombe failed to produce any documents supporting his claims leading to his arrest.
