Ginimbi Gets Passport Back

Harare businessman Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure was yesterday given back his passport to enable him to travel on a business trip which he said will help solve the country’s gas problems.

Kadungure’s lawyer, Jonathan Samkange pleaded with the court to grant his client his passport back as he was to travel on a very important business trip.

“As we all know your worship that the country is currently having a gas problem and the accused is a businessman who specializes in gas, so there is need for him to go and do business,” said Samkange.

State, represented by Shepherd Makonde did not oppose the application but demanded that the passport be replaced with title deeds as surety.

“We are not opposed your worship but we would want the accused person to give title deeds of his property as surety,” said Prosecutor Makonde.

Harare Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa ruled that the accused person’s passport be released and replaced with title deeds as surety.

As part of the alterations of the bail conditions, reporting conditions were also cancelled as from 10 December to 6 January 2018, the time Kadungure is expected to be out of the country.

Meanwhile, Kadungure was acquitted last week in another fraud case after Harare magistrate Morgen Nemadire ruled that the state was just fabricating a case against him.
