Ecobank Donates To Mutoko Mother of Peace

Pan African financial institution, Ecobank has renovated two dormitories, set up a library and donated furniture, books, assorted groceries and water treatment chemicals among other things to  children at Mother of Peace Children’s Home in Mutoko.

Ecobank Zimbabwe Limited’s Board Chairperson, Fortunate Chisango said the donation is a result of individual contributions from staff members and demonstrates their compassion for the vulnerable members of society.

“There were 52 million African orphans under the age of 18 in 2017 according to UNICEF, and I am pleased that at Ecobank Zimbabwe Limited our staff have demonstrated compassion for orphans by participating and supporting this initiative through individual donations and their time to be with the orphans and disadvantaged in Mutoko and Bulawayo.

“I am particularly delighted by the passion and commitment demonstrated by our Ecobank team in demonstrating our culture of giving back,” said Chisango.

He added that they also extended a scholarship programme to more vulnerable children and Orphans at Sagombe Primary in Bulawayo.

“This year’s focus is on ‘Support for Orphanages in Africa’ and has been chosen to raise awareness of the challenges orphanages face to mediate the challenges of families burdened with orphans due to  lack of adequate capacity i.e. funding and resources rendering them inadequate,” said Chisango.
