Buffaloes dehorned in Mandava, sucked back into relegation dogfight

MUTARE – The return of coach Saul Chaminuka failed to galvanise army side Buffaloes who were walloped by FC Platinum over the weekend to heighten fears of relegation amid rumours of dressing room unrest.

Sources within Buffaloes have said there is low morale, rapidly sinking due to lack of sponsorship, which saw the army side fail to capitalise on the two weeks PSL break.

Even the return of former coach Chaminuka, whose flirtation with ZPC Kariba came to a premature end despite coming second last season, was not enough to spur on the demoralised team.

Chaminuka scaled dizzy heights with the power utility team and almost defied the odds falling on the last hurdle to glory in a defeat by Dynamos in a penultimate match. He has however failed to reignite the same form this term hence his sacking.

However sources told 263Chat that even Chaminuka will not cheer the demoralised team playing without sponsorship.

”There is no sponsor and the boys are just very low. We are just playing for the sake of our salaries otherwise there is no motivation to play for the team.

”We are not getting any winning bonuses so in that case we just play for the sake of it said the source,” said the well-placed source who declined to be named.

Attempts to get an official comment at the time of publishing were fruitless as the officials were not picking their phones.

This defeat could yet spell doom for the eastern region teams as fellow strugglers Dongo Saw Mills have found the going tough in the PSL.
