 ZIMRA launches e-service

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority on Friday morning launched an electronic service platform in an attempt to utilise information and communication technologies in dealing with tax matters.

This comes at a time when government is driving automation and modernisation of its system in fulfillment of goals set out in the economic blueprint, Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (ZimAsset).

Speaking during the official launch of the service, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) Commissioner General, Mr. Gershem Pasi, said this gesture is a timely response to the changes in business and technology.

“We are positively responding to business and technological changes so as so improve convenience and reduce tax compliance costs.

More importantly as a revenue administrator, we are always exploring ways of making tax and duty payments,” he said.

The ZIMRA boss said that the new service will enhance interaction as well as permit clients to transact online.

“The service allows interaction with clients, and also allows clients to conduct business which they normally conduct at ZIMRA offices remotely on the e-platform.

“The concept of electronic service is an efficient way of utilising information and communication technologies in dealing with tax matters,” he said.

ZIMRA has introduced this platform to provide fiscal service whose delivery is mediated by information technology.
