Labour has accused Theresa May of “running scared” of Parliament as it was confirmed the Brexit secretary, Dominic Raab, will update MPs on the state of the negotiations later today.
It also comes as Arlene Foster, the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party, which is responsible for propping up the prime minister’s fragile government, travels to Brussels for talks with the EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier.
“It’s outrageous the PM isn’t making the statement. She was the one negotiating in Salzburg, so she should be the one explaining to MPs why she failed,” a Labour source told The Independent. “At this stage the PM shouldn’t be running scared of Parliament”.
