A former Harare magistrate, Mitchel Matema has dragged his ex-husband to court on charges of assault after she approached him demanding money for the upkeep of their 19-month-old child.
Matema (33) who now works at the ministry of Industry and Commerce had gone to her ex-husband, Elliot Fuzhuwa’s place demanding alimony for their infant.
The court heard that this did not go down well with the accused who tied her hands with an electric cable and started beating and dragging her inside the house.
She told the court that the accused used a leather belt to assault resulting in her sustaining serious injuries.
Matema later managed to escape and reported the matter to the police leading to Fuzhawa’s arrest.
Fuzhuwa is now on the run after court granted him $20 bail on his initial court appearance.
