Serial Robbers Back In Court For Armed Robbery

Three Harare men were appeared before Harare magistrate court on yesterday facing three counts of armed armed robbery.

The trio, Godknows Shumba, Decide Rice and Aloid Masinhure pleaded with the court to be remanded out of custody accusing police of assaulting them while in cells.

Sebastian Mutizirwa and Ropafadzo Botsh appeared for the state.

Circumstances surrounding the case are that on 3 May 2018, the accused persons in the company of four other accomplices who are still at large hatched a plan to defraud Jairos Jeke, a money changer based in Chitungwiza of $25 000.

On 6 July 2018, the accused persons again robbed a truck driver who was offloading goods in Graniteside Harare, taking $60 from him.

The trio also searched employs who were at the premises and tried to blast company safe using explosives but failed.

On the third count, the court also heard that the accused persons on 14 July got into Africa Bet shop in Mbare, armed and ordered people to lie down and took money from the till amounting to $1 106 and a cell phone.

They were remanded in custody after state opposed to bail being saying they have other pending cases before the court.

The case was postponed to 8 October 2018 for further remand.
