Hurungwe West not conducive for elections

HURUNGWE – West independent candidate, Temba Mliswa, last week claimed that the constituency is not conducive for elections saying that harassment, and sexual abuse of the children is rampant in the area.

This was revealed during a press conference held at the Media Centre under the topic “Startling revelations from the ground in Hurungwe West’.

The outspoken politician claimed that the deployed soldiers are molesting young girls in Nyangwizhu.

“Soldiers are sexually abusing children. There is a case of a young girl who was sexually abused which we are currently filmng. The situation is tear drawing and people are now living in fear.

He went to say that children are being taken to torture houses where they are abused.

Zanu PF is reportedly said to have deployed members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO), police and the army to frighten Hurungwe West voters ahead of the by-elections slated for next week.

Mliswa who is the former legislator for Hurungwe West condemned the behaviour by the ruling party in the constituency.

Zanu PF is forcing village heads to write the names of all those in the villages. This register will then be used on the day of voting to check on the number of people who vote.

Mliswa was tersely kicked out of the ruling party earlier this year, on allegations that he was supporting former Vice President Joice Mujuru.

Mliswa claimed that he still enjoys considerable the support of war veterans, many Zanu PF members and party youths in the area who have publicly vowed to back him.
