Supreme Court Hears ZEC Appeal on Voters’ Roll

The Supreme Court will on Friday 13 July preside over the hearing and determination of an appeal by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission against the High Court judgement which instructed the Commission to give the Election Resource Centre (ERC) provisional voters’ roll that was used during the national Voters’ roll inspection exercise.

Last month ERC dragged the Electoral Commission to the High Court of Zimbabwe after it had refused to avail the Provisional Voters’ roll.

The High Court judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi ordered ZEC to provide ERC with the provisional voters’ roll in form of a hardy copy or a soft copy, however, the Commission has appealed by taking the issue to the Supreme Court.

“Take notice that the appellant hereby appeals against the whole of the judgement of the High Court handed by the Honourable Chitapi T on the 6th of June 2018,” reads part of the notice of appeal.
