The Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) is set to become Zimbabwe’s first university to enrol students for the Master of Technology degree in Cloud Computing following Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education’s approval of five postgraduate courses the institution applied to offer.
Cloud Computing is a technology field which focus on the practice of using a sophisticated network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage and process data. Cloud computing has been designed to address the limitations of hosting data on local servers and personal computers.
Cloud Computing has rose to become on of the world’s critical fields of research and has stirred intense interest on the development of next generation technologies such as big data storage, website technologies, remote access technologies, and many other Internet technologies.
Besides Cloud Computing, HIT will also start offering masters in technology in other fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Machine Design, and Software Engineering.
On top of introducing the new postgraduate degree programmes, HIT has also added a Bachelor of Technology degree in Materials Engineering and Technology to its various fields of learning such as engineering & technology, information science & technology, industrial sciences & technology, and business & management sciences.
