The Nelson Chamisa led Movement for Democratic Change, (MDC-T) has threatened to disqualify all winning candidates who engaged in acts of violence and cheating during the just ended party primaries held across the country.

Briefing the media at party headquarters in Harare, MDC-T Acting National Chairperson, Morgan Komichi said they are investigating all allegations of violence and looking into primary election appeals with those found guilty being penalized.

“We are currently dealing with all the primary elections appeals. The Appeals tribunal is ceased with these matters. However, the party is investigating allegations of violence and those who are found wanting will be penalized,” said Komichi.

He added that they will closely work with other alliance partners to field the best candidates in all constituencies while respecting the women and youth quota.

“Our Alliance partners are fielding their candidates and we are working closely together to field the best candidate for the area. Negotiations are taking place among our Alliance Partners in areas where, for instance, our candidate is weak and an alliance candidate is strong, so that a stronger candidate will stand in such constituencies. In this process, we have also respected the women and youth quota,” added Komichi.

The MDC-T primaries held across the country were chaotic and marred by incidents of violence and manipulation of processes which left some key party members complaining and threatening to contest as independent candidates.
