President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week spoke on how Zimbabwe is set to capacitate the diamond industry with a goal of reaping maximum benefits for the treasury, diamond mining communities and the youths.
The government has been in recent years caught in a serious controversy which saw the country losing revenue worth USD$15billion from unrecorded diamond sales.
Zimbabwe realized diamond deposits around 2005 and have seen massive exploitation of the precious stones in areas such as Marange and Chiyadzwa. This saw the birth of prominent diamond companies like Mbada Diamonds and Marange Resources which later collapsed due to bankruptcy as the alluvial diamond deposit began to face extinction after massive mining.
