Local retail chain, Food World has donated goods worth over a thousand dollars to the Ruwa based Rose of Sharon orphanage promising to continuously donate part of their profits to the underprivileged in society.
In an interview with 263Chat, Food World Head of Marketing, Sales and IT, Tendai Chisvo said they will ensure that they donate goods to schools and orphanages quarterly.
“We have decided as Food World that every year we donate a portion of our profits, we are trying to ensure that every quarter we visit at list one or two schools or orphanages and donate some goods to them.
“Most of the times we bring in food, clothes and other requirements that the orphanages may have and for this quarter we have decided to come to Rose of Sharon along with our suppliers.
“We had Lobels, Tanganda tea, and Surrey who also came on board to donate some staff.
“We are very appreciative of the efforts that they are doing here at Rose of Sharon orphanage, they are doing a lot of work and they cater for about 400 children ranging from ECD all the way to High School and to University,” said Chisvo.
Meanwhile Rose of Sharon founder and director, Dr. Fatima Maruta hailed Food World for the gesture urging other corporates to also reach out to the needs of orphans in the world.
“I would like to thank Food World for donating some goods to us, l wish all companies in the corporate world would be able to reach out to the needs of orphans.
“They have got numerous needs, they need to go to school, they need food and healthcare, so we appreciate the help from Food World,” she said.
Rose of Sharon Orphanage is a registered private voluntary organization located in Ruwa, 20 kilometres east of the central business district of Harare. Among its core objectives is to provide shelter, food, clothing, education, healthcare, and counseling to orphaned and vulnerable children in the country.
