The Morgan Tsvangirai led Movement for Democratic Change Alliance(MDC Alliance) says it will improve the educational system, whose standards have gone down over the past few years, once elected into power.
Addressing alliance supporters in Masvingo yesterday, acting MDC Alliance chairperson, Nelson Chamisa said they have set aside funds that will go into retooling of tertiary institutions.
“Under MDC Alliance, the Zimbabwean learning institutions will be financially supported in order to be the best research centers. The universities will have highly qualified chancellors and Zimbabwe will export intellectuals just like Cuba,” he said urging students to stand for their right and demand for better education from government.
Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu), President, Archibold Elias Madida articulated challenges currently faced by Zimbabwean students.
He said that some of the challenges hinge from lack of students accommodation, high education fees and failure to access employment after graduating.
Responding to the concerns, Tendai Biti one of the alliance’s principals said, ” MDC alliance government will address all students concerns. More so, the MDC alliance government will give grants to tertiary students.”
Meanwhile, MDC T National youth assembly chairperson Happymore Chidziva encouraged students to register to vote and vote for a change, (MDC alliance presidential candidate Tsvangirai, Councillors and legislatures).
MDC has been promising an array of changes once elected into office which include revamping the economy.
Chamisa urged people to keep on supporting the party leader, Tsvangirai who is battling with cancer and receiving treatment in the South Africa.
Zimbabwe is set to go for polls before July.
