Liquid Telecom South Africa’s CEO Kyle Whitehill has resigned with immediate effect after serving at the helm of the telecoms giant less than a year.

In a statement received from the Econet Group-controlled Liquid Telecom, the communique said Whitehill will relinquish his post on the 20th of March 2018 to pave way for a yet to be announced incoming boss.

Circumstances around his departure from the hot seat are not clear yet  but the communication received from the Econet Group said he will return to the UK “to be with his family.”

The Liquid Telecom Group CEO, Nic Rudnick said Whitehill’s family remained in the UK during his time in South Africa.

“We thank Kyle for his determination and drive that have seen the company go through many positive changes and renewed focus.” – added Rudnick.

Whitehill is former CEO of both Vodafone Qatar and Vodafone Ghana and the Liquid Telecom group is expected to name his successor in the coming days.

Liquid Telecom appointed Whitehill as the CEO of its Liquid Telecom South Africa division following the acquisition of Neotel a year ago in a R6.5bn deal.
