Speaking during the Provincial Coordination Committee (PCC) meeting held in Mutare last week, Zanu PF members said the party needed to cleanse and get rid of elements that were destabilizing the revolutionary movement causing untold suffering on the masses.
The province passed a resolution to fire Mugabe from his position as President and First Secretary of the ruling party as well as expelling party members linked to the G40 faction.
Minister of Home Affairs Ignatius Chombo, Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Jonathan Moyo, Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Savior Kasukuwere and First Lady Grace Mugabe were among the alleged criminals who need to be cleansed around the President.
The meeting, held at Mutare Polytechnic saw members previously expelled on allegations of belonging to a faction Lacoste being reinstated to take up their positions in the party.
Mike Madiro took over his position as the party provincial chairperson while Tawanda Mukodza was appointed Youth Chairperson and Happiness Nyakuedzwa assumed the position of provincial Women’s League chair.
Addressing the gathering, Member of Parliament for Buhera South constituency Joseph Chinotimba said the party cannot go to congress without provincial chairpersons.
‘’Since 2013 we had no chairpersons. We had acting chairpersons. Matabeleland South and Masvingo Province are the only provinces which have elected chairpersons. Business cannot continue before the appointments of these chairpersons,’’ said Chinotimba.
