The late Zanu PF politburo member, George Rutanhire has been declared a national hero and will be buried at the national heroes acre on a date to be announced.
This followed recommendations by Mashonaland Central province to accord the late Rutanhire national hero status for his efforts during and after the liberation struggle.
Zanu PF national secretary for administration Ignatius Chombo confirmed the development.
“The decision was unanimous,” Chombo said adding that the party was still in discussions with the Rutanhire family for a suitable date.
