Information and Communication Technology minister, Supa Mandiwanzira will on the 3rd of August headline the third edition of the mobile money and digital payments annual conference to be held in Harare.
The event, organised by OxLink Capital will also be attended by renowned business leaders including Brian Mutandiro, Chief Executive Officer of NetOne, George Guvamatanga, Managing Director of Barclays Bank and Violet Masunda who is the head of Mobile Financial Services for TeleCash among others.
The Conference brings together the doyens of the banking sector, ICT, mobile operators, payments system providers and insurance industry players to engage and debate with policy makers and customers on key industry milestones, opportunities and standards.
Running under the theme, ‘Towards A Cash-Lite Society’, the conference will discuss issues to do with bank charges and mobile money tariffs, role of micro insurance and financial inclusion, cloning, counterfeiting and fraud in digital payments among other issues.
The conference will be attended by representatives from commercial banks like NMB, MBCA, NSSA, Steward Bank and financial service providers like Get Cash.
Some of the topics expected to dominate deliberations at the conference include:
- Regulating bank charges and mobile money tariffs – Balancing regulations and innovation.
- The case for Converged Licensing Framework, Virtual Network Operators and Mobile Virtual Network Operators – Progress , challenges and opportunities.
- Role of Micro- Insurance in financial inclusion.
- Cloning, Counterfeiting and fraud in mobile money and digital payments. A mitigation and collaboration to achieve market confidence.
- Cash shortages – Causes, challenges and opportunities or Mobile Money, Agent Banking and Internet Banking.
