Minister of State for Harare Provincial Affairs Miriam Chikukwa has Harare is at an advanced stage in its installation of solar streets lights saying the shift to renewable energy should be applauded.

Addressing the media on Thursday in Harare, Chikukwa said Harare is at a higher stage in terms of solar streets lights.
“More than 65 solar streets have been installed along Robert Mugabe Way,starting from Rotten Row road to Sam Mujoma street as well as along the Airport road.
“76 lights have been installed along Borrowdale Road from Churchill Road to the Race Course and 80 holes excavated from the Race Course to Sam Levy Village,20 holes are pending.
“21 holes were excavated along Simon V Muzenda street from Robert Mugabe Road to Central Avenue and 4 holes are pending,” she said.
Chikukwa said apart from this solar lights, Harare is also working on bio-gas for cooking and electricity generation.
“Apart from this significant investment, Harare is also working on an 800 cubic meter bio-gas for cooking and electricity generation,”said Chikukwa, calling on residents to take good care of solar streets.
