We Have Turned The Corner- Lloyd Mutasa

Dynamos Football Club head coach, Lloyd Mutasa believes his side can now go on a winning run following his side’s win over cross town rivals, Harare City at the National Sports Stadium on Wednesday night.

Dynamos won courtesy of 36th minute a wonderful volley by Cameroonian Christian Ntouba after pouncing on a loose ball from an Ocean Mushure corner kick.

City goalkeeper, Maxwell Nyamupanedengu had punched the ball out of danger only to find the waiting Ntouba who made no mistake from close. It was Dembare’s win of the season, all coming away.

After the match, Mutasa told reporters that his side might have found their mojo back and can go on a long unbeaten streak and challenge for title honor.

Last season when Dynamos beat Harare City at the same venue, they went on a 9 game unbeaten streak and Samaita believes his side can emulate that feat.

“You might recall that last season we turned the corner when we beat Harare city at the same ground and we went unbeaten for 9 games which was a huge boost for us. So I believe this is the turning point in our season.

“If we manage to win another three points in our next assignment against ZPC Kariba, then we might be on the right track,” said Mutasa.

He added that although they would want to collect maximum points against the Kariba based side, he is cautious of the threat the Sunday Chidzambwa side pose.

“If you look at ZPC Kariba and Sunday Chidzambwa as a coach, we are talking of an experienced side and coach but Dynamos being Dynamos every game we play is going to be a tough game and we expect a tough match on Sunday,” he said.

The win was a huge relief for Mutasa, who came into the match under immense pressure following a run of poor results.

Reports suggested Mutasa had been given an ultimatum to win this match, failure of which he would be sacked.

As for City, it was a bad start for new coach, Philani Ncube, who was given the reins on Wednesday this week following the demotion of Mike Madzivanyika.

“The potential is there. We were a better side. It’s just that our conversion rate is poor. There are going to be changes to the team and Sunday, it’s three points,” Ncube said.
