Young Motocross sensation, Tanya Muzinda, has received US$10 000 donation from Commercial Bank of Zimbabwe (CBZ Financial Holding), ahead of the British Masters Kids Motocross National Championships set for England this weekend.
Tanya, one of Zimbabwe’s youngest sports professionals in the male dominated sport, will represent the country at the Championships which will have more than 40 athletes drawn from across the globe.
Handing over the cheque, CBZ group marketing executive Laura Gwatiringa said they were proud to be associated with Tanya and will continue to play a pivotal role in the growth of sport in Zimbabwe.
“We are delighted to be partnering Tanya, who is a world class athlete as she continues her determination to break barriers by becoming the first black girl to win the Global Races in Motocross,” said Gwatiringa.
CBZ has supported Tanya in the past by sponsoring the past annual sports awards which she has won In the Junior Sports Woman and Junior Sports person of the year.
Accepting the benevolent gesture, Tanya said she was overwhelmed by the donation which she said will go long way in boosting her preparations.
“I would like to thank the kind donation by CBZ as this will boost my preparations ahead of the weekend,” she said.
Added Tanya “It is not going to be an easy weekend as I will be taking on boys who have continued to take centre stage in this sport. So I will give my best shot for me to bring back the trophy.”
At 12, Tanya hold more accolades than most athletes and is determined to continue breaking barriers by becoming the first black to win global races in motocross.
She is one of a few girls who compete in motocross and won the junior sportswoman and sportsperson of the year in 2015.
The race is from 27th to 29th at Mildenhall, Burys St Almondy in the UK, where she will lock horns with 140 other kids in the 85 cc class.
