This weekend was as usual busy with the biggest event being the launch of the 2017 culture week at Nyava High School in Musana, Bindura. The event was attended by different arts groups and musicians and was officiated by the Minister of Rural Development Promotion and Preservation of National Culture, Abednico Ncube. The launch was made colorful through various performances with Andy Muridzo the star performer of the day.
Uzumba born star, Jah Prayzah had time to retrace his roots back to where it all started and took his Friday to be with the school children in his home area where he was busy promoting sports with a soccer tournament that attracted a lot of football fans including veteran football commentator Charles ‘Chale’ Mabika.
The ‘Watora mari’ hitmaker also officiated at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a computer laboratory at his former school.
Progress Chipfumo and Sam Mudondo were are Jazz 24/7 and had a full house with the Tokwe Mukosi hitmaker in yet another stunning performance.
On Friday again, Jazz festival kick-started with Chipfumo and other artists opening the poorly attended annual festival.
King of sungura, Aleck Macheso invaded Karoi with sungura lovers attending the show in large numbers. Macheso who is in the studio recording his latest album, expected to be out soon, gave his fans a feel of the latest album.
In Marondera there was an over dose of Dendera and Reggae sound from Sulumani Chimbetu and Fire Stone band. Sulumani was taking his album, Jamboree which is not doing quite well on the market. Fire Stone is known for playing copy rights from international artist and they proved their value with stellar perfomances.
Pole dance Beverly ‘Bev’ Sibanda was in Kambuzuma where she attracted a full house though she is failing to spark again as her dances have become routine for those who follow her.
