Mobile network operator, Netone is on an offensive, targeting to increase uptake of its flagship OneFusion package in the religious sector.
Speaking at the official handover of a church building to Salvation Army Glen Norah Corps which the giant telecommunications company sponsored for its refurbishment, NetOne’s acting CEO, Brian Mutandiro said they felt compelled to assist in-order to be part of the church’s 40 years milestone.
“When we received the request from the major, we felt indeed ideal that when you celebrate 40 years you do it with a new looking building, life begins at 40 and we are proud to have funded the rebirth and refurbishment of the house of God,” said Mutandiro.
NetOne PR & Special Projects Executive, George Manyaya added that “The partnership with churches was an innovative way of achieving commercial visibility for all NetOne’s products which is now further complimented by the employment of 20 000 brand ambassadors with 2000 already recruited to start invading Harare’s central business district”
At the beginning of 2017, NetOne entered into a partnership with the Salvation Army which saw most of its members migrating to join their newly awakened network to use the popular OneFusion product.
The head of the Glenorah Salvation Corps, Major Nkomo said “We would like to thank NetOne for its generosity and its current drive to partner churches. When we approached them we were afraid that we would celebrate 40 years in tent due the state of our building which had become an eye sore. Our houses had falling ceilings and were inhabitable but they came and pledged their support”
In his concluding remarks at the ceremony, Mutandiro thanked the government for the continuous support rendered through the Ministry of ICT.
He said their parent ministry has been guiding them on the importance of partnering and meeting the needs of churches around the country.
According to the recent POTRAZ fourth quarter sector performance report, NetOne was the only operator to have gained over half a million subscribers.
