Weekend Entertainment Review With Munashe Chokodza

After HIFA and Castle Tankard, there was little activity and music fans had to endure a weekend without the big names in the capital city. In the absence of notable big names like Jah Prayzah and Macheso who were both out of the country, the stage was left to the likes of Alexio Kawara, Peter Moyo, Gonyeti, Kinnah and others to shine.

At Time & Jazz: Alexio Kawara gave his fans a time of love with some romantic lyrics from song like Paanofamba, Nerunako rwako among others. Alexio also performed cover songs from legendary lyricist and songwriter Paul Matavire much to the excitement of a sizeable crowd that attended his show.

Peter Moyo was at Jazz 24/7 on Friday where he performed before a fully packed house. The young Igwe took time to sample some of his songs from the soon to be released album titled Mopao Mokonzi which is consisted of six tracks.

On Saturday, the former Third Generation dancer, Pamela Zulu popularly known as Gonyeti was in Glen Norah with her horse power band. Gonyeti who is expecting to launch her second album in August, gave her fans a taste of it.

The Mbare based Zimdancehall chanter, Kinnah who had a show at Big Apple Club, performed before 20 people.

Mr Mbare shared stage with the fast rising female singer Empress Masina who also made fans go haywire with good performance.

At the Ambassador Hotel, Transit Crew led the Bob Marley commemorations. Other local musicians who performed at fiesta include Cello Culture, Corner Stone and other reggae groups.

Reggae fans had an event to remember as they danced to some fine reggae hits including tracks from the late Bob Marley himself.
