Mutare, Bulldogs Ready For Battle

Mutare Sports Club will be hoping to maintain their winning streak when they take on Bulawayo based side Bulldogs in their third game of the Intercity Rugby League first round set for Mutare Sports Club (MSC) this weekend.

MSC, who have so far collected maximum points after beating Police Defenders and Gweru Sports Club in their first and second matches, say they are not taking chances with the new boys as they don’t want any surprises.

“Bulldogs have been incorporated to this year’s Intercity Rugby League and I must say Mutare Sports Club is taking the game serious for we haven’t played them before so we wouldn’t want to be surprised after 80 minutes,” said MSC Rugby Team Manager Tonderai Saunyama.

Saunyama assured that MSC is all out for maximum points having the home advantage.

“The coaching department is at full swing preparing the boys for the game and come Saturday I believe the boys would be switched on and juiced up for the clash,” he said.

Bulldogs however say they are not reading much into Mutare’s victories as each game is different.

“Their wins in the past two games is not a problem because this is a different game and they have no idea of the package we have prepared for them. Our main focus is making sure we leave a mark in Mutare and a win will leave that mark,” said Bulldogs Rugby Club Chairman Thembelani Ncube.

This is Bulldogs’s first away encounter and, as Ncube says, they have made all the necessary preparations, physical and mental, for the clash.

Mutare are currently placed fourth with 10 points in the Intercity League log standings having played two games while Bulldogs are eighth with five points having played three games with one victory and two losses.

Elsewhere this weekend, Old Georgians take on Matabeleland Warriors on a top of the log clash, Police Defenders faceoff with Harare Sports Club both games in Harare while Old Miltonians play Old Hararians and Gweru Sports Club battle with Highlanders at Hartsfield in Bulawayo.
