This weekend, most of the big artists held shows outside the capital city of Harare but music lovers in the city had enough fun as upcoming musicians filled the gap.

On Thursday last week, Jazz 24/7 was the place to be as the Dendera musician Chamson  Boroma launched his 7th album. The launch could not draw a huge following but was decorated by the presence of all the Chimbetus except Sulumani who was out of town. Seasoned dendera musician Allan Chimbetu, Douglas, Tryson and other musicians joined Boroma as he launched his latest project which by his own standards is quite promising.

On the same night, Theatre In The Park opened its doors for a new season with a play titled ‘FROGS’. The play shows how Zimbabweans have continued to adapt and conform to the extend that they will accept everything that is thrown to them by politicians, the reason why the play was called Frogs since it adapts to changing  water temperature until its die.

Tendai Dembo, son of music legend, Leonard Dembo  was at The Eland in Kuwadzana and had an full house in what proved that sungura still commands a huge following in the city. Tendai performed his own songs together with his father’s hit songs before sampling songs from his upcoming new album.

On Saturday, Sulumani Chimbetu was at LongCheng. Sulu as he affectionately known by his fans belted out hit songs from his father collection.

On Sunday the king of sungura, Aleck Macheso and the Amai munodonhedza Musika hit maker Boom Beto met at Zindoga where they attracted a lot of music lovers. Their combination seems to be attracting a lot of attention from music lovers who attended the show in large numbers.
