War Vets Challenge Prof Moyo For a Television Debate

War veterans have their fight with Higher and Tertiary Education Minister, Jonathan Moyo to a new high after openly challenging him for a live television debate with their leader, Christopher Mutsvangwa over rumors that they want to nominate their own candidate for the 2018 Presidential elections.

Addressing journalists in Harare on Monday, Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association, Spokesperson Douglas Mahiya said his association would want a public debate pitting Moyo and Mutsvangwa to clear the air on the Tsholotsho legislator’s allegations that war vets want to appoint their own candidate in the forthcoming elections.

“War vets would like to dispute the lies that we sat a meeting for nominating a person of our own to be a candidate for 2018 presidential elections.

“We have never sat for the so called 30th December meeting, and to make things clear, we want Jonathan Moyo to come for a public meeting on ZTV so that the rumors will be cleared,” said Mahiya.

He also accused Moyo of being power hungry.

“Jonso is the only one talking about power, what does he want it for and for whom,” queried Mahiya.
