Musarara Front-runner For GMB Top Job

Government has shortlisted Grain Millers’ Association of Zimbabwe chairperson, Tafadzwa Musarara on the list of people set for the General Manager position at Grain Marketing Board (GMB).

Among other candidates vying for the GMB’s general manager position are former Cotton Company of Zimbabwe managing director, David Mashingaidze and Tobacco Research Board chairperson, Millicent Mombeshora.

Millicent Mombeshora, is the wife to the Lands Minister, Douglas Mombeshora .

Musarara, stands a higher chance of landing the top job due to his experience in the milling and grain industry whose operations he has been in for more than 15 years.

If given the job, Musarara has huge challenges ahead of him which include dealing with corruption largely perpetrated by senior army officials and Zanu PF big wigs, who have over the years been siphoning state resources from the parastatal. The other challenge he faces is that of clearing the parastatal’s ballooning debt which accrued from unpaid farmers’ grain deliveries.

In an interview in Harare,Musarara, confirmed having been interviewed for the position but could not confirm that he has been shortlisted. “The process was done some time ago and just like anyone else after an interview you definitely wait for the outcome, which we are all eager to get,” she said.
