The ruling party, Zanu PF has intensified its campaign ahead of the much anticipated Norton  By-Election slated for the 22nd of October.

Frequent visits by party bigwigs including VP Mphoko, VP Mnangagwa, National Political commissar Saviour Kusukuwere  among other senior party officials reveal the pressure that has hard hit the ruling party as they seek to return the seat which fell vacant following the expulsion of War Veterans leader, Chris Mutsvangwa from the ruling party .

In a move that analysts describe as vote buying, while addressing hundreds of party supporters at a rally in Norton yesterday, VP Mnangagwa promised Norton residents stands. He said that party was working tirelessly to ensure that people get their stands

“There is no other party that has people at heart like Zanu PF. As indicated by our political commissar, we have farms that will be turned to residential stands. We should go on and take that land.

“Has anyone ever been arrested for taking land. You must take land, but all this has to be done in an organised manner,” he said.

VP Mnangagwa said Zanu PF is everything  (we are the army, we are the police, we are everything) adding that it is the only party that determines who construct a railway line, who can do mining  and who can make a road .

He urged the electorate to vote wisely.

Said VP Mnangagwa, “Vote for those who rule not those who are being ruled, if you find yourself voting for those who are being rule what are you trying to do?” queried VP Mnangagwa.

“Promise me that on Saturday you will all go and vote for Chindedza, our candidate, so that when I go back to Harare, I will tell President Mugabe that the Norton seat is ours,” said VP Mnangagwa.

However, VP Mnangagwa urged people to vote peacefully.

“Vote peacefully, for we are a peaceful political party which only seeks to see progress in the country,” he said.

Chindedza is contesting against independent candidate, Temba Mliswa and David Choga of the National Constitutional Assembly.

Zanu PF National Political Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere, took time to respond to Temba Mliswa who claimed that he turned down his (Kasukuwere) sexual advances.

“Chindedza is married, and I do not know why people should vote for someone who is not married. People like him (Mliswa) cannot rule for they do not have focus,” he said.
