Scores of pro-democracy activists, today thronged Harare Central Police Station demanding the arrest of Local Government Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere who was recently implicated in a stands saga.
Kasukuwere is said to have sold residential stands that were reserved for youths to Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya.
The activists who included Mr Sten Zvorwadza of National Vendors Union Zimbabwe staged a demonstration at Harare Central Police station calling for the arrest Kasukuwere, who is also the Zanu National Political Commissar.
The demo comes after Kasukuwere was meshed by President Mugabe over the stands following reports that he had sold the land to Prophet Magaya during last week’s Politburo meeting.
In a petition addressed to the Police Commissioner General, the activists demanded stern measures to be taken against the Minister’s corrupt tendencies.
“We implore the ZRP, as law enforcement agents, to act without fear of favour in bringing culprits such as Saviour Kasukuwere to book over their corrupt activities.

“We would like to remind you that corrupt activities by Saviour Kasukuwere have become an issue of concern to the Head of state and Government, President Robert Mugabe who personally confronted Kasukuwere…,” reads part of the petition which the activists intended to hand over to the police.
The petition added that “As Zimbabwean citizens, we are deeply concerned over the high level of corruption by the government and the ruling party officials which has seen the majority of Zimbabweans wallowing in abject poverty while high ranking politicians loot national resources for personal aggrandisement.
However, the demonstration did not end well as hordes of anti-riot police blocked and assaulted activists and the general public.
According to the Herald, Kasukuwere gave some of the stands in question to his younger brother Tongai and close associates such as House of Assembly representatives for Kuwadzana Cde Betty Kaseke and Harare South Shadreck Mashayamombe among others
