Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira today said that civil servants will receive an advance payment of $100 by Friday.
This surfaced after the civil service indaba which saw government and civil servants representatives delineating on the workers’ June salaries which the former says will spill into July due to lack of revenue inflows.
After the first meeting last week the workers had vowed to remain immovable highlighting that they have commitments to meet.
Miniser Mupfumira said the amount will be used to alleviate the challenges being faced by civil servants as well as help them sustain themselves until salaries come through.
In a letter written and signed by Treasury secretary Willard L. Manungo,government announced the postponement of civil servants’ salaries. However members of the Zimbabwe National Army today today received their salaries , while the police and members of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPSC) will get their pay on 29 June. The rest of the civil servants will be paid on 14 July, while pensioners will get their money on 19 July.
