Zimbabwe’s forthcoming high-tech cyber city has piqued the interest of international cricket luminaries, local pension funds, and Zimbabweans residing abroad, according to project organizers.
Construction of this visionary cyber city in Mount Hampden, located in western Harare, is poised to kick off “in the coming days.” The initial phase aims to deliver 50 villa units out of the proposed 233 within the span of one and a half to two years.
Mulk Holdings International is the driving force behind this project, set to make Zimbabwe the inaugural African nation with a smart city, heralding a new era of economic and social development.
Mr. Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk, Chairman of Mulk International, made these revelations during an event marking the official commencement of property sales. He mentioned that civil works were already in progress, with the construction of villa units underway in Dubai.
“In the next few days, we will initiate the first phase, encompassing 50 units out of the 233 villa units, with delivery expected within the next 18 to 24 months,” he announced.
The comprehensive project is slated for completion in the subsequent four years, he added.
Mulk envisioned the cyber city as a fully functional society featuring shopping malls, towering edifices, and water bodies. He elaborated, “Land clearance, landscaping, design, and engineering are complete. Local government approvals are an ongoing process, with the majority of requirements met.”
He emphasized, “It’s poised to become a unique model in Africa; there’ll be no need to fly to Dubai for shopping malls, as the city will offer most of what people travel to Dubai for.” Given its special economic zone status, all resident imports will be duty-free.
Among Zim Cyber City’s notable benefits is its potential to elevate tourism in the country, drawing global visitors with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and world-class amenities.
The city’s integration into the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) program underscores the government’s steadfast commitment to fostering sustainable growth and attracting investments.
Zim Cyber City is set to streamline blockchain and digital asset license clearance, bank accounts, cutting-edge office spaces, and upscale residential living for all individuals and entities within the community.
Additionally, it will feature round-the-clock advanced built-in surveillance technology, directly linked to local law enforcement authorities to ensure maximum resident security.
Beyond its economic contributions, Zim Cyber City seeks to enhance Zimbabwe’s aesthetic appeal and allure.
