The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has with immediate effect increase gate charges for all premier league match at a time when the cost of living has spiralled beyond the reach of many.
Already faced with a dwindling number of supporters due to the poor levels of football in the local league, the PSL risks further losing the few dedicated fans who were parting with their hard earned cash.
The new charges will see the cheapest ticket, which is the Rest of the Ground, going for RTGS$10 from the previous RTGS$5. VIP will now cost RTGS$20 from the previous RTGs $10.
Football fans wishing to occupy the VVIP stands will now have to pay RTGS$ 50 from RTGS$20.
However, the PSL said it will not force clubs to hike prices.
“Clubs that wish to maintain the old prices are free to do so. We appeal to our fans to come in their numbers and supported their teams,” said the statement.
Clubs have generally found the going tough in this economic meltdown as gate charges are failing to cater for their expenses.
