The secret behind the two suspected twin sex workers who appeared in a video that went viral beating up a naked man with cooking sticks over infidelity has been revealed in court today.
The two accused, Shyleen and Shylet Nyangade (22) from Kambuzuma appeared in court facing assault and extortion charges and they only pleaded guilty to assault charges, denying extortion before Harare magistrate Barbra Mateko.
The court heard that the complainant was married to the first accused person but sneaked out and proposed love to her twin sister, the second accused person who then connived with the other twin to punish the complainant.
“The accused persons were provoked to act in that manner. The complainant tried to make love to the second accused whilst married to the first accused person,” said Liberty Mandivhei, who is representing the accused persons while submitting mitigation.
He also said that the first accused person has children with the complainant as they were a married couple.
The state is however alleging that sometime in June last year, the twins hatched a plan to extort money from the complainant, who was in a relationship with Shyleen.
Their game plan was that Shylet would seduce the complainant during Shyleen’s absence.
The court heard that according to their plan, Shylet would take the complainant to the bedroom and then Shyleen would catch them in a compromising position.
The court heard that according to their plan, the complainant and Shylet went into the bedroom where Shyleen pounced on them and started accusing the complainant of infidelity.
It is alleged that the pair started assaulting the complainant with cooking sticks and bare hands all over the body while recording a video.
It is the state’s case that the duo went on to extort US$3 000 from the complainant, threatening to leak the video on social media if he failed to give them the money.
The twins who pleaded guilty to assault charges were fined $100 each.
For the extortion charges which they denied, they were asked to pay a bail of $100 each.
